Course Description

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at KIET Group of Institutions was established in 1999. The department focuses on providing a practical, hands-on learning environment where ideas are explored, and students gain strong technical knowledge and skills. Our NBA accreditation reflects our dedication to quality education and student development. As part of an autonomous institute, our curriculum is designed to meet current industry needs and adapt to technological advancements, ensuring our students are well-prepared for the modern workplace.

The department is equipped with modern labs and workshops that offer students direct experience in core mechanical engineering areas. The CAM Lab, developed with Gauri Components, provides training on CNC lathes and VMC machines. In the Design & Realization Lab, students use 3D printers to transform concepts into working models. Our Automobile Lab features specialized engine setups for understanding vehicle performance. Additional labs for materials testing, fluid mechanics, heat treatment, and machine theory offer practical insights. Furthermore, workshops for welding, carpentry, forging, and machining help students develop essential industry-ready skills.

We enhance learning through our specialized Centres of Excellence and industry partnerships. The SAEINDIA KIET Collegiate Club, active since 2008, offers hands-on experience in building electric and solar-powered vehicles, with projects like SUPRA, E-BAJA, and ESVC. The Electric Vehicle Centre, supported by L&T EduTech, trains students in battery systems, powertrains, and EV charging technology. Through the ADAM Program, in partnership with Mercedes-Benz India, students receive direct training in automotive systems and strong placement support. Our Woodworking Centre, built with BIESSE Group, teaches modern furniture and kitchen design using advanced tools and software. Additionally, the Hero MotoCorp Skill Centre provides real-time experience in two-wheeler maintenance and repair.

Beyond academics, we encourage students to participate in clubs, events, competitions, and training programs to develop both their technical and personal skills. Our department maintains a strong placement record, with students securing roles in leading companies across the automotive, manufacturing, energy, and design sectors. Regular recruiters include Reliance Industries, JSW, Polycab, Adani, Thermax, and ISGEC. At the Department of Mechanical Engineering, KIET, we provide a blend of knowledge, practical skills, and industry exposure to prepare students comprehensively for their future careers.
